I spent 19 years at Enfield Safety Supplies, delving deep into safety equipment and regulations. This experience allowed me to tailor safety solutions for various industries. Following that, I dedicated six years at Donside. These combined experiences form the foundation of my expertise, which I now bring to my role at Hazchem Safety, where I continue to contribute to workplace safety.
What does a typical day look like in your role?
A typical day in my role at Hazchem Safety involves a dynamic mix of tasks focused on procurement and supply chain operations. I begin by reviewing pending tasks and purchase orders, which often leads to placing orders with suppliers and ensuring the details are accurate. Chasing overdue orders is a priority to prevent disruptions. Additionally, I set up codes for new products as needed, maintaining our inventory accuracy.
What do you enjoy most about your role at Hazchem?
What I enjoy most about my role at Hazchem is the sense of fulfilment that comes from ensuring our customers’ needs are consistently met. Being a key player in maintaining a steady supply of goods demonstrates our commitment to customer satisfaction.
Working in Procurement at Hazchem, what would you say has been your biggest learning curve or challenge?
My biggest learning curve and greatest challenge in Hazchem’s procurement department has been keeping up with the changes in the legislative landscape. It takes constant attention to navigate standards controlling many procurement-related issues.
What advice would you give to someone beginning their journey looking to further develop their career in the industry?
Making and maintaining good contacts is something that I feel is very important. Also, take every opportunity to increase your product knowledge.
